For lovers of all things artfully fractured and broken, Fauve is a playground for decomposing and reconstituting your sounds that goes far beyond glitch: I’m using it to sculpt refined rhythms, textures, and totally new sonic phrases, invented in collaboration with the plug-in.
This is a new go-to tool for me. I’m obsessed.

Lyra Pramuk

Fauve is an audio processor that collects sonic fragments and replays them, not always faithfully. It forgets, distorts, and glitches into new meanings. Like the hallucination of a broken machine.
A fractured memory, yours to reshape.

Fauve is a perfect cure for sound-alike effects. It really is distinct from other buffer/glitch and granular tools. And it strikes an ideal balance between predictability and weirdness, between polished controls you can learn and master and unexpected combinations that surprise you.

SELECTED REVIEWS

Another winner. I’m always on the lookout for effects that provided ‘controlled randomness’ and Fauve does just that. Sounds great with all sorts of sounds and the UI is gorgeous.

By continuously recording incoming audio, Fauve analyzes and breaks sound into small units we call collections. When playing them back, it sometimes fails, opening space for the user to edit and shape the material according to their own sonic vision.
Fauve can be a harsh distortion, a gentle shadow, a paroxysmal dance between reality and dream, and much more. It can slightly scramble your sound, completely strip it of its original meaning, or introduce subtle, almost imperceptible variations to make it richer, yet always organic.
Fauve disrupts, but never destroys.

Remember / Forget

Fauve listens and remembers — but it may forget to capture the present, getting stuck in the past. It blends memory and reality, shaping a soundscape as if it were truly what it just heard.

Behold the Hallucination

Beyond the native errors of its faulty replicatory nature, Fauve opens space for your design: you can shape the playback of fragments using classic sampling/slicing parameters like Disorder, Repeat, Freeze, and playhead rate.

Shaping through Absence

Sculpts amplitude in two distinct ways through Absence: turn left to assign a random value to each fragment for more organic results, or turn right to introduce audio drops, adding uncertainty, or even reaching distortion wilderness on shorter fragments.

Beyond Balance: Enter the Mirage

Let Fauve blur reality with its dream using the Mirage parameter. Shape the balance, focus it across the stereo field, and control amplitude for both source and processed sound.

Fauve is a totem/series plugin, and like all totems, it follows its own logic. Timing in Fauve doesn’t rely on beats or note values — it’s driven by the material itself.
Every operation is triggered by zero crossings, making the outcome deeply dependent on the source. Same settings, radically different results.

Fauve begins by listening to the incoming audio and analyzing its amplitude. Each time a zero crossing occurs, it slices the sound into a unit and stores it. These units are grouped into “collections”, whose size is defined by the Length parameter.

Since Fauve is driven by the material itself, collections can vary in duration even with the same Length value — zero crossings occur at different intervals depending on the source. To set a minimum duration for collections, use the Floor buttons (0, 25, 50, 100ms): a collection will only close once both the unit count and the minimum time are met.

The Stuck parameter further shapes the memory: it sets the chance that some units are not recorded at all — blending past and present in unpredictable ways. Fragments of the past may persist into the present, echoing through time like lingering memories.

The playback manipulation happens in the central panel: Disorder introduces the chance for Fauve to pick collections in a non-linear order.
Repeat and Freeze let Fauve loop the same collection multiple times.
Absence acts as an amplitude modulator: turn it left to assign a random amplitude to each collection — for organic, dynamic variations; turn it right to drop parts of the signal to zero — introducing malfunctions or, with short Length values, a kind of raw distortion.
The Rate parameter lets you detune or harmonize the playback, while enabling the Envelope switch applies a windowing shape to each collection — for smoother transitions or subtle, vibrating textures at higher rates.

A core block of Fauve’s language, the Mirage section. Here, you set the chance, triggered at each new collection, for Fauve to play either the source or its own processed vision. Smoo lets you shape the transition, from instant switches to smoother, more blended crossfades. Lean lets you shift the balance between left and right channels, while a switch allows for mono-syncing.
You can independently control the amplitude of both Source and Process paths via the Monitor section. Two white LEDs indicate when the dream is active on each channel.
Finally, the Sustain switch (bottom-right of the interface) allows Fauve to keep singing, even when no new input is detected.

I was originally a fan and customer of Secta – wanting to recreate the degradation and distortion similar to The Disintegration Loops. Fauve takes things in a compatible direction – it somehow goes backwards and forwards in its beautiful manipulation, whilst Secta is more linear. I really love the spontaneous creativity and moody enhancements created by both. Excellent stuff!

  6. andrew.john.atkinson (verified owner) –

I love using this plugin. I think the controls have been really well thought out, in that you can make all sorts of useful music decisions very quickly.

  7. sonny rosenberg (verified owner) –

I really shouldn’t be leaving a review without testing it more, but Fauve is exactly what I’ve been looking for.
I put it on an acoustic drum loop that I just recorded and it did the most wonderful transformation. I’m already in love with this device. My only concern is that I know I’m going to overuse the shit out of it. What a wonderful thing Fauve is!

  8. digitalaudio (verified owner) –

Using Fauve made a Synth-Stem on one of my Tracks sound like a human voice, talking in an unknown language.

  9. mikeypowell70 (verified owner) –

Fauve is superb and adds a similar effect to Qu-bit’s Stardust. Excellent for adding a layer of randomness and chaos, but can be tweaked.

  10. Ianjohnson328 (verified owner) –

Absolutely great. I like our this up there with Secta as a wonderful way to make abstract sounds! Nice work

  11. Mike Vasas (verified owner) –

This a beautiful effect. Anything I feed into it becomes a new live performance machine. It can do abstract but can also be reigned in. Most importantly, “a life of its own” plugins need to be musically usable and visually pleasing and this one is all that. Highly recommended.

  12. mnemosignmusic (verified owner) –

A dream tool for sound design. Really amazing for sculpting sound in so many ways. K-Devices is now my go-to for pushing the envelope.

  13. Thomas Terrien (verified owner) –

That’s an amazing plugin, extremely immediate and a perfect companion for external gear, so many ways to buil soundscapes whith it !

Love everything K-Devices does! Always giving us left field tools!

  16. M S (verified owner) –

Incredibly musical and fun to work with. One of my first choices to add texture.

  17. david-8872 (verified owner) –

I’ve looked for something like fauve for a while. Great tool for creating interesting glitchie soundscapes. My one wish would be the ability to lock some of the effects/controls to tempo. Highly recommend though. Especially at the current sale price.

  18. Tom Langton-Lockton (verified owner) –

Hours of fun diddling up your music- wondering what that knob does -watching a video and then forgeting-noticing as you write the review the website that you have to be a verified owner of the appliance to write this review wants you to buy the appliance- ah he modern world-fauve is great tho. In a sea of rubbish all K devices are a liferaft of lovelyness.

  19. Hartwig Schultz (verified owner) –

I absolutely love it. It’s a stunning effect—especially when applied with subtlety. This glitchy, fibrous, inherently musical texture feels truly unique and complements my musical style perfectly.

  20. ganaumario (verified owner) –

Fauve is super creative ! I’m using it in a glitch chain effect and it has a lot of personality

  21. Andrew Wong (verified owner) –

A fun and creative disruptor plugin to give you glitchy effects and break up the monotony of loops.

  22. jeremywen (verified owner) –

Really interesting glitches come out of this thing. It a fun tool to put on basic material to make it more interesting.

  23. tekrah (verified owner) –

Fauve is a canvas to break up , squish and generally reconfabulate sounds into textures touched by the hand of chance and chaos, more than just “randomised” glitches. I’d like to tempo sync some more parameters but rendering out gives lots of potential in CDP

  24. Todd Wolfson (verified owner) –

ALL the K-Devices plugins are exactly what i have been looking for and Fauve fits right in with my creative path to sound collages and pieces of sound art

  25. Pablo Lilienfeld (verified owner) –

A lot of fun to use! Super nice unexpected results, beautiful and smooth interface and it even has its own poetics. Highly recomend

Great to create “Controlled Randomness” … nice results when used in multiple instances en spread out over an immersive speaker setup …

  28. Gareth Jones (verified owner) –

Immediately gratifying – I made something beautiful and appropriate with the plugin first time out and my collaborators loved what they heard! Great result. Looking forward to more granular joy.

  29. octobird (verified owner) –

I hesitated on this one because the demos sounded a lot like super random glitchiness. But I’m happy to report that K-Devices (yet again) managed to strike that perfect balance between randomness and musicality. Fauve can also work very subtle and sprinkle some “friendly ghosts” into your rhythms.

  30. echoplexia (verified owner) –

I’ve only been using it for a short time but I can already see that Fauve is a great plugin for my sonic toolbox. It lends itself nicely to the experimental drones that I do, and I’m really enjoying it so far.

  31. Jeff Thall (verified owner) –

Great textures all around. Takes sometime to get familiar with the non traditional parameter names, but that’s what makes Fauve fun. You can dial in great sounds in a jiffy. It just sounds great.

  32. James Sanger (verified owner) –

Just the right amount of random magic

  33. mr_bluebox (verified owner) –

    I’m a guitar player.
I love guitar pedals like Walrus Audio Fable, QI Etherealizer ecc
If you want a plugin that reminds this kind of glitchy, granular and pitch/shift style sound, this FAUVE is your cup of tea…or milk, coffee and chocolate too!

    It sound great.
Maybe a little hard to understand but after some trail you can surely find your sound.

It’s beautiful to play guitar along the crazy soundscapes by FAUVE.

  34. markwarrenzf (verified owner) –

Fun, easy to use and intuitive. As an experimental and improvising musician Fauve is an ideal plug in for me to use as I can quickly dial in evolving soundscapes. Nice price for what you get as well.

  35. Dzmitry Reznikau (verified owner) –

Another amazing plugin, especially for idm/abstract electronics!

  36. Gabriele (verified owner) –

    Amazing Results with Fauve!!!

  37. Leslie Brown (verified owner) –

When I saw this effect announced, it seemed to resemble a plugin version of an effect pedal that I use habitually, ahem. Naturally, the first thing I did was send my guitar through this plugin and press record in my DAW. Zing. Instant inspiration and fun.
