DRIV
sequence travelers

€49.00
DRIV is a Max For Live MIDI device that will guide you through an unexpected harmonic journey. DRIV is a complex sequencer enhanced by multiple independent playheads.
With DRIV you can expand a single monophonic pattern up to four melodic lines that can intercept each other across a vast amount of combinations thanks to a deep phase distortion toolset and advanced playback features.
Prepare for (counterpoint) wonder.

Driv is one of my favourite sequencers. It’s on my default Ableton template. I use it in a more minimal approach to start a groove( and yes! it grooves!) Great work!
An inspirational tool for developing musical ideas, leaving you the freedom to experiment with sound designing while it evolves.
A Super-Charged Sequence Generator

Start your harmonic journey with a monophonic pattern thanks to DRIV’s fully featured step sequencer. Generate/write/edit parameters on a per-note basis in order to achieve the perfect progression!
Probabilities

View and control each possible sequence modifier. While the randomization parameters on the main device can be useful for quick experimentation, the external window grants more flexibility and precise calibration.
4-Voices Harmonic Expansion

Take control over a single voice’s playhead range, direction and speed, as well as scaling and transposition over the voice’s MIDI parameters. Enable Hard Sync to keep everything consistent (regardless weird playhead’ movements) and tidy up the whole sequence.
4-Voices Phase Travel

Twist, bend, modulate the phase of each voice in order to reach incredibly complex sequences, even starting from a simple pattern.
Advanced Routing

Send DRIV voices wherever you want by using the Routing settings and the companion DRIV Receiver device: up to 4 sends are available to control virtual instruments and/or hardware gears.
MIDI Tools : packed in!

If you use Live 12 you can also take advantage of DRIVr and DRIVn MIDI Tools: a generator and a transformer to inject DRIV’s wonder directly into your MIDI clips!
How DRIV Works
Starting from a monophonic single pattern, DRIV can generate sequences spanning across a wide range of sonic realms.
Voices’ playhead can easily be offset and constrained to only include snippets of the main idea, their content can be transposed, fine tuned and even randomized, their progression twisted using phase distortion tools.
All of these tools can easily lead users to experiment beyond grid and traditional time signatures, yet DRIV can tidy up everything in the sequence (for instance by resetting the playheads phases all together via Hard Sync, or by thinning out excessive notes via voices’ individual Chance percentage). Its routing capabilities are also an handy feature when it comes to spread the same idea across different instruments (and even hardware gears) and twist it accordingly.

The Voice Editor gives control over a single voice’s playhead range, direction and speed, as well as scaling and transposition over the voice’s MIDI parameters. It’s also possible to alter the playhead movement by applying phase distortion.

- Mode – Set voice playback mode (forward / backward / palindrome)
- Pitch – Offset voice pitch in semitones
- Pitch Random Enable – When enabled, Pitch is randomly picked from all steps between the current Range
- Velocity – Offset voice velocity
- Chance – Set the chance for the note on each step to play back its current sequence values (gets processed in addition to individual steps chance value)
- Gate Mode – Set voice gate mode (mute note on empty steps / hold current note until next note trigger)
- Bend – Bend voice playhead progression phase
- Warp – Warp voice playhead progression phase
- AM – Modulate voice playhead progression phase amplitude
- AM Ratio – Set voice AM ration
- Transform Mode – Select voice playhead progression phase transformation mode
- Transform Gain – Amplify voice playhead progression phase in order to apply the selected Transformation mode
- Phase Scope – Visualize playhead progression phase
- Length Details – Reports current duration of playhead progression according to phase modifications
The external Probabilities Settings window gives access to a detailed view and controls on each possible sequence modifier. While the randomization parameters on the main device can be useful for quick experimentation, the external window grants more flexibility and precise calibration.
- Randomization Pitch Root – Set root note for Pitch randomization
- Pitch Randomize/Scramble/Default – Mutate notes Pitch accordingly
- Pitch Weights – Set notes weight for Pitch random generation
- Velocity Randomize/Scramble/Default – Mutate notes Velocity accordingly
- Velocity Range – Define minimum and maximum values for Velocity random generation
- Velocity Density – Define the percentage of randomly generated Velocity values which differ from 0
- Chance Randomize/Scramble/Default – Mutate notes Chance accordingly
- Chance Range – Define minimum and maximum values for Chance random generation
- Close Window – Hide Randomization Settings window
DRIV’s voices can be independently routed to different destinations using the Routing settings in combination with the DRIV Receiver device. Voices can be either routed to the the track where DRIV resides (Direct) or to any other MIDI track where the DRIV Receiver has been placed (External). This gives access to 4 independent routing ports, which can either be assigned to single voices or freely combine any combination of those.
Routing Settings window
- Route – Set the voice output to be either Direct or External
- Route AUX Selector – (When voice routing is set to External) Set the auxiliary destination port number for the Receiver
- Close Window – Hide Routing Settings window
DRIV Receiver
- Input Selector – (When any voice routing is set to External in DRIV) Set the port number to receive incoming voices
- Thru – Enable incoming MIDI to pass through

What was already a fantastic and inspiring sequencer is made all the better with the now-included MIDI Tools. It’s quickly become a go-to for injecting some subtle (or wild) variation in melodic or rhythmic patterns. Constantly impressed by K-Devices!

Amazing sequencer. Unexpected results that take you to unexpected ideas! And with the DRIV receiver, you can send any signal anywhere, anytime, and as many times as you want!! Thank you very much!!

A great tool for inspiration! Just tweak the parameters a bit, add a little randomness, and let the result surprise you!
It’s also nice that you can route MIDI to four different tracks using DRIV Receiver.

really inspiring tool – only the keyboard needs an update – too small for setting tones. It´s possible to fold the keyboard, which makes it easier, but only for the playing keys / steps.
Apart from this it’s really great !!!
