Swing and Time Variation

Let EXT 2 go groovy using the time variation and swing sliders!

EXT 2 is a Max For Live audio effect designed to modulate anything you want in Ableton Live: any control in other devices, in Live’s UI, and in any third party plug-in.

EXT 2 is very easy to use: just click the “select” toggle, then click the parameter in your Ableton Live set to apply its step modulation. Target’s name is displayed in EXT 2′s UI, you can scale outcoming values to a specific range.

EXT 2 add a bunch of new features: clicking the “envelope” toggle you can activate the step envelope mode, using three dedicated step sequencer to define step’s length, shape and peak direction. These envelopes will be then applied to the main step sequencer amplitude, so each step could be exclusively shaped following your needs.

Ext 2 can swing too: increase the amount, and let your modulation get groovy! For more action: do not forget to test what time variation slider can do!

For more fun, you can obviously use several instances of EXT 2 in your live set, to access more parameters modulation easily!

EXT is developed using exclusively standard Max objects, to guarantee compatibility with latest Live and Max For Live versions.

EXT 2 vs EXT

This chart shows the latency in samples with different buffer size.
All test performed on the same machine (MacBook Pro 15″ early 2011), running Ableton Live 9.1.2 and Max 6.1.7 both in 64bit, samplerate 44.1KHz, 24bit.

bit pointless making something that only works on live 9.1

      (verified owner):

EXT 2 uses gen~ so it requires Live 9 and Max 6: we optimized it for the Latest version of Live.

Doesn’t work with Ableton Live 9.0.4. This program will run with Live 9.1 or newest version.

System requirements in this same page say “Live 9.1 or higher” :)

Very cool device but REALLY needs a ADSR setting.
Sounds way too clicky in most situations, i.e. controlling the AutoFilter in Ableton.

    • Simone Fabbri

      (verified owner):

The “smooth” control does exactly what you need, letting you set the how much the clicks will be reduced;)
